Qualifications

Mataya’s early childhood was about survival, with no room to explore psychic abilities. In her teens, she began to notice a whole array of feelings, like colors splashing onto her body’s canvas. Looking back, she now knows she was Empathic and Clairsentient. She’d go into a crowd and pick-up feelings and thoughts from people, but it felt overwhelming. Even now, she gets ill in large crowds. Mataya became a born-again Christian and developed a relationship with Jesus and God. She tried to ignore her psychic gifts, but received the Word of Wisdom, special messages delivered by God. This ability felt right. Little did she know, she was actually channeling Spirit Guides! For over 20 years, she stayed with the church. But during her recovery from an eating disorder, she felt drawn to Tarot, though it was against church doctrine. Slowly, she left the church, took up metaphysics, and studied psychology and sociology, receiving Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Counseling. She spent years as a therapist intern, working with domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Then, suddenly, she was led to a different path, as an Intuitive Counselor and Spiritual Advisor. Mataya was a name that came to her out of the blue, and it means God's gift. Her talents are, indeed, a gift she continues to treasure and share with her clients

Experience

A successful Intuitive Practitioner for 26 wonderful years, Mataya devoted the first decade of her career to providing readings at psychic fairs in Bakersfield and Sacramento. It was hard work, as she absorbed the energy of all the people around her, and she didn't yet know how to shield herself. Consequently, she often left with body aches and monstrous headaches. She also gave readings at local metaphysical shops and eventually became a member of the American Tarot Association. Mataya enjoyed one-on-one psychic counseling, but it was, nevertheless, a great energy drain. As an antidote, she moved her practice to the internet, while still continuing to counsel clients at metaphysical shops. After she left Sacramento and moved to Oceanside, she gave up her private counseling entirely, devoting herself fully to her online clientele. To this day, she still wrestles with protecting herself from the energy she picks up from others--the price of being a highly sensitive—and includes chakra cleansing as part of her daily routine. Education and experience are important components of her practice. She’s received her Master’s in Counseling and has spent many years working as a therapist intern. Mataya knows people inside and out, on both an Intuitive and psychological level.

Personal

Mataya is a triple Cancer and is super-duper nice, with three planets in this psychic, sensitive, healing, and nurturing sign. Her Moon in Aries makes her honest and compels her to say what's on her mind. She'll tell you exactly what's going on, but always in the nicest way possible. And she'll tell you if you're getting on her nerves—also in the nicest way humanly possible! She lives in California with her husband of 33 years and their two dogs, Chopper and Bailey, and their cat, Max, who thinks he owns the place. But it's only on Chopper's good graces! Mataya is a breast cancer survivor, going on 5 years now. She, along with millions of other women, gained a ton of weight from the cancer medicine, and she struggles with weight issues. She's also a regulated bipolar-2, undiagnosed for 30 years, and was once suicidal. It wasn't until her 40’s that she was properly diagnosed. Mataya knows what it's like to wrestle with mental health issues, and she treats every client with tremendous compassion. You are not alone in your struggles. She is a reader who truly understands.
